Getting Started
AmSC access is currently available only to Genesis RFA Phase I teams that have been approved for MAG access. Please do not proceed with the instructions below until the project PI has completed the "Genesis RFA Phase I Teams: Genesis Resources Planning Questionnaire" and received confirmation that they are awarded a MAG exploratory project. AmSC will then contact the project PI with onboarding instructions once the project is approved for MAG.

AmSC Single Sign-On (SSO) Description
The American Science Cloud (AmSC) provides a Single Sign-On (SSO) service that allows AmSC users to access resources across the Department of Energy complex using existing institution credentials. The AmSC SSO uses PingIdentity to deliver a secure and scalable SSO platform.
Accepted Identities
The AmSC SSO currently supports the following identity providers (IdPs): ANL, ALCF, LBNL, ORNL, OLCF, and SLAC. If your institution is not yet part of the federation, you will need to apply for an AmSC Account (see below)
Access & Login
In order to begin using the American Science Cloud, you will need an account with which to access the platform. These instructions will guide you through requesting access, and then logging in once access has been approved.
All AmSC users and PIs will need to request AmSC access. Requesting AmSC access is step one for everyone.
You have two options when applying for a new AmSC account, Use your institutions's identity provider (IdP) or create a new AmSC account. Your IdP is preferred; only follow the process to create a new account if your IdP is not in the available list.
Apply for access to AmSC using your Institutional Login Credentials (BYOA: bring your own account model)
Preferred Method
- Navigate to the AmSC Account and Project Management Portal myAmSC.
- Click Login with OIDC Credentials and search for your institution in the dropdown. This will redirect you to the login page for your institution. If you don't see your institution listed proceed to the "Apply for an AmSC Account" step below.

- Notification will be sent once the request is approved or rejected.
- If approved, use your OIDC credentials to log in to the AmSC Account and Project Management Portal myAmSC to join a project, apply for/manage a project, and update your profile.
Note: If you can authenticate using multiple IdPs, choose the one you use the most and remember to use the same going forward. Once your AmSC account is created, it will be associated with this IdP.
Apply for an AmSC Account if you institution is not listed
Use this method only if your institution's Identity Provider (IdP) is not listed in the above. If your institution is not listed as an option via the Login with OIDC Credentials button, you will need to apply for an AmSC Account. To do so, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the AmSC Account and Project Management Portal myAmSC.
- Click Account Application in the left navigation menu.
- Complete the application form and submit it. Remember to save the application confirmation number (UUID) for your records.
